In the landscape of Indian couture, few labels have mastered the art of opulence and maximalism quite like Falguni Shane Peacock. With a design language that balances theatrical drama with meticulous craftsmanship, the brand has managed to create a visual identity that’s instantly recognisable. Not to mention, their designs have an appeal that transcends far beyond India. From collaborations with the likes of Law Roach, to dressing global icons like Beyoncé and Lady Gaga, Falguni Shane Peacock seems to be well on its way to establish global dominance. As they prepare to showcase at the India Couture Week tonight, anticipation is running high for what Falguni and Shane’s latest offering has in store. In a conversation with Robb Report India, the designer duo talks about what to expect from the upcoming collection, their pre-show ritual, and more.

Robb Report India (RR) : What can we expect from your upcoming showcase at the India Couture Week?

Falguni Shane Peacock (FSP): This season, we're presenting Le Grand Voyage, a collection inspired by the romance of the Orient Express. Through the journey of the Peacock Woman and the Peacock Man, the collection travels across Rome, Paris, Morocco and Egypt before returning to India, drawing inspiration from the architecture, art and craftsmanship encountered along the way. Every destination adds a new dimension to the collection, brought together through intricate handicraft and the luxury couture that defines Falguni Shane Peacock.

RR: What are you drawing inspiration from this season?

FSP: Travel has always been one of our biggest sources of inspiration. Every city has its own architecture, craftsmanship, culture and way of telling stories, and those experiences naturally become part of our creative process. With Le Grand Voyage, we wanted to capture the feeling of travelling through some of the world's most iconic destinations and reinterpret those influences through Indian craftsmanship.

RR: Is there a craft or technique that takes centre stage in this collection?

FSP: Rather than focusing on one particular technique, this collection is about the coming together of many different crafts. Every garment has gone through months of embroidery development, textile experimentation and hand craftsmanship. It's this layering of techniques and attention to detail that gives the collection its richness while allowing each piece to tell its own story.

RR: How do you manage to strike a balance between constantly evolving and staying true to your DNA?

FSP: Our design language has always been luxury, craftsmanship and innovation. Those values remain constant. Every season, what changes is the story we choose to tell and how we push ourselves creatively. We don't believe in following trends; we believe in evolving while staying true to the quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail that have always defined Falguni Shane Peacock.

RR: Do the two of you ever have creative differences? How do you navigate through them?

FSP: Of course. Creative differences are a part of any long-standing partnership, especially when both people are equally invested in the work. The important thing is that every conversation is driven by what's best for the collection. Over the years, we've developed a great deal of trust in each other's instincts, and that exchange of ideas almost always leads to a stronger outcome.

RR: What excites you the most about the fashion scene right now?

FSP: It's exciting to see people embracing individuality more than ever before, while also understanding the true luxury of couture and valuing artisanal craftsmanship. Fashion today is less about following trends and more about expressing a personal point of view. We're also seeing much greater appreciation for the time it takes to make one couture outfit. That shift is encouraging because it allows designers to focus on creating work that feels timeless rather than momentary.

RR: After all these years, what continues to inspire you to create?

FSP: Inspiration comes from travel, architecture, museums, art, history and the remarkable craftsmanship we encounter along the way. Every journey and every interaction has the ability to shape a new narrative, and those experiences naturally find their way into our collections. What keeps us inspired is the constant pursuit of creating something new. Every collection is an opportunity to explore a different story, challenge ourselves creatively and celebrate craftsmanship in a way that feels both timeless and relevant.

As Falguni Shane Peacock continues to expand its footprint in the luxury couture space, its recent association with the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group seems pertinent. Shivika Goenka, Director of Luxury & Education at the RPSG Group, echoes this sentiment. She talks about this partnership, and Falguni Shane Peacock’s upcoming ICW showcase.

Robb Report: This will be Falguni Shane Peacock's first India Couture Week showcase since the partnership. Does that change anything about how this showcase has been approached, compared to previous years?

Shivika Goenka: The creative vision remains entirely Falguni and Shane's, and that has been central to this partnership from day one. What has changed is the ecosystem around the brand. Our role is to provide long-term institutional support that allows creativity to flourish, whether through stronger retail experiences, organisational capability or global expansion. This showcase reflects that philosophy: complete creative freedom, backed by patient capital and a shared ambition to build an enduring global Indian luxury house.

RR: What does RPSG want the industry and buyers to take away from FSP's presence at ICW this year?

SG: That Indian couture is not just admired for its craftsmanship; it is increasingly shaping the global luxury narrative. Le Grand Voyage, this season's collection inspired by journeys aboard the Orient Express, shows how Indian artistry can engage with global cultural references while staying deeply rooted in its own identity. If the industry and buyers leave with greater confidence that Indian luxury brands can compete with the world's best on originality, craft and storytelling, we will have achieved something meaningful.

RR: How does the RPSG group measure the success of a showcase like this?

SG: Never by a single evening or by immediate commercial outcomes. We look at whether the collection strengthens the brand's long-term equity, deepens its emotional connection with clients and reinforces Falguni Shane Peacock's place in the global luxury conversation. Every showcase should leave the brand stronger than it was before, in perception, desirability and cultural relevance. That is how enduring luxury houses are built.

RR: If you had to choose a favourite from this collection, what would you pick and why?

SG: One of the hand-beaded tapestry jackets. It captures everything this collection stands for: the dialogue between cultures, extraordinary Indian craftsmanship and a timeless sense of elegance. It feels collectable rather than seasonal, which is exactly what Le Grand Voyage is about. The most memorable luxury pieces are the ones that become part of your own journey, and this one embodies that beautifully.
