Shashwat Goenka, son of RPSG Group chairman Sanjiv Goenka, inherited a business legacy at the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, but together with his wife Shivika, the power couple have continued to build for the long term. As director of luxury and education, RPSG Group, Shivika straddles two worlds that are both anchored in the same idea: future-ready, experience-led ecosystems. The Gift Studio reimagines gifting as a design-led experience, while RP Goenka International School pushes learning toward an inquiry-led model. “The focus has been on creating differentiated platforms that respond to emerging aspirations, not just existing demand,” she says.
Her investment in Falguni Shane Peacock is an extension of that same belief, pairing the designers’ creative vision with retail infrastructure and capital to strengthen Indian luxury’s standing on the global stage. Her husband Shashwat, vice chairman of the group, works across a wider spread, spanning Spencer’s Retail, the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC), and the FMCG brand Too Yumm that he founded. His view of luxury comes down to individual experience. “Experiential luxury is not about excess or lavishness; it is about how thoughtfully an experience has been created around you,” he says, pointing to hospitality that anticipates consumers’ needs. For him, India’s luxury narrative needs less imitation and more intention. “What something costs matters far less than the thought, the provenance, and the hands behind it,” he says. Both return to the same conviction: that Indian luxury must be told through its own makers and sensibility, not benchmarked against the world. It’s a standard they hold Robb Report India to as well—a title Shashwat calls “a trusted editor of taste,” and one Shivika sees as reflective of “the story, provenance and intelligence” behind what is genuinely exceptional.
