The Mandarin Oriental Grand Cayman has officially launched sales of its new residences—and they’re more expansive than previously announced.
Along with those located at the Beach House—on the top five floors of the resort’s hotel—the Mandarin Oriental has unveiled a new, standalone development dubbed Ocean House Residence. Designed by Reda Amalou, founder and partner of the Paris-based architecture firm AW2, Ocean House Residence includes two-, three-, and four-bedroom designs. Prices among the units range from $6 million to more than $12 million.
“Ocean House Residence was imagined as a belvedere. A balcony towards the sea,” Amalou said in a statement. “Its form gives the facade a natural line, wrapped around the living spaces. We wanted to blur the idea of in and out to give the users a strong feeling of outdoor living at all times. So, the spaces open out to generous terraces and balconies that extend the interior space. This continuity is key to creating a unique connection with the site and the view.”
Sitting on ocean cliffs, Ocean House is fronted by a porte cochere that leads into a double-height lobby finished with limestone and oak millwork. Those details are found throughout the apartments, as well, which also bring in stone, marble, and brass. Exhibition kitchens, for example, feature hand-crafted cabinetry with a fluted oak design, while primary bathrooms incorporate limestone and ocean-view soaking tubs. Along with the in-home creature comforts, Ocean House has its own club with a lounge and infinity pool. Plus, you get access to all of the resort’s additional perks.
Ocean House builds on the property’s Beach House residences, designed by the firm Hart Howerton and the interior designer Meyer Davis. These homes, including the sprawling $22 million penthouse, have been designed in a complementary style, with natural stone finishes in the bathrooms and Calacatta countertops in the kitchens.
The 42 residences between Beach House and Ocean House join the Mandarin Oriental’s 91 hotel rooms to create a serene community at St. James Point. When on the property, you have access to an impressive 2,700 feet of continuous oceanfront and 70 acres of tropical forests. And while you could simply lounge by the pool or on the beach, more adventurous residents and guests can take advantage of the kayaking, snorkeling, and diving offered at the on-site dive center.
