Cristiano Ronaldo Buys Ultra-Private Island Villas at Nujuma in the Red Sea

Cristiano Ronaldo’s career has always unfolded on a global scale. From Lisbon to Manchester, Madrid to Turin, and now Saudi Arabia, the footballer has built a life that moves effortlessly across borders. Along the way, he has collected homes that reflect not just wealth, but a taste for privacy, space, and carefully chosen locations. His latest address adds a new geography to that map: the Red Sea.

Ronaldo and his partner, Georgina Rodríguez, have purchased two villas at Nujuma. It is a Ritz-Carlton Reserve Residence, an ultra-exclusive island retreat set almost 26 kilometres off Saudi Arabia’s western coast. Accessible only by chartered boat or seaplane, Nujuma is built for those who value seclusion over spectacle.

Since the first resorts opened in 2023, Ronaldo and Rodriguez have visited The Red Sea several times, often travelling with their children. Over time, the decision to own a home here became less about novelty and more about familiarity. According to Ronaldo, the appeal was immediate: the stillness, the natural beauty, and the sense of calm that is increasingly rare in his public life.

There are just 19 villas at Nujuma, each set directly on white sand and surrounded by clear, shallow waters. Ronaldo and Rodríguez opted for two properties: a three-bedroom villa designed for extended family stays, and a smaller two-bedroom home intended for quieter escapes. Set within the same island environment, the two homes allow for ease and adaptability.

The moment you enter a Nujuma villa, a feeling of ease takes hold. Interiors favour natural textures and soft tones that mirror the sea and sky outside. Large windows and open layouts ensure the landscape is never distant, whether from the living spaces, bedrooms, or outdoor terraces. Private pools open towards the water, with shaded decks that blur the boundary between interior and exterior.

Although the villas open generously to their surroundings, seclusion remains intact. With no crowds and no through traffic, days here are shaped by personal rhythm rather than schedules. Morning swims lead to slow breakfasts, afternoons on the water or at the spa, and evenings are spent watching the light change across the sea.

At the heart of the island is Neyrah Spa, an indoor-outdoor space built around simple rituals and locally inspired ingredients. Treatments are designed to encourage stillness rather than spectacle, borrowing from both land and sea to restore balance. For a family that divides its time between training grounds, stadiums, and international travel, this quieter approach is part of the draw.

Adventure is close at hand. The Galaxea Diving Center offers access to some of the Red Sea’s most vibrant coral reefs, alongside kayaking, sailing, and snorkelling. The approach is shaped by an evident care for the surrounding environment. At the Conservation House, guests can engage with local ecology and culture through various immersive experiences, reinforcing the project’s ambition to go beyond sustainability and actively enhance surrounding ecosystems.  

Nujuma sits within The Red Sea, a regenerative tourism destination being developed by Red Sea Global, with a long-term goal of delivering a net conservation benefit by 2040. The wider destination is expanding steadily, with new resorts, dining venues, and cultural experiences opening across Shura Island. A dedicated international airport now connects the region directly to cities including Milan, Dubai, and Doha.

For Ronaldo, whose property portfolio already spans Europe and beyond, the Red Sea represents something different. It is not about urban glamour or architectural statements, but about retreat. A place where family life can unfold away from cameras, and where time slows enough to be felt.
