Aman has long had a quiet way of finding places that already feel extraordinary. Its next retreat, Amanvari, will open in spring 2026 on Mexico’s East Cape in Baja California. With just 18 guest Casitas and a selection of private residences, the resort is designed to feel intimate, offering the kind of peace and privacy that has become synonymous with the Aman name.
The location is nothing short of breathtaking, with the East Cape being where desert landscapes meet the turquoise waters of the Sea of Cortés, framed by the Sierra de la Laguna mountains. Amanvari sits precisely at this meeting point. Designed by Elastic Architects with early inputs from Heah & Co., the Casitas are slightly elevated, opening up sweeping views of the coast and sky.
The design is calm and understated, with sand-coloured concrete, natural stone, and tropical wood shaping the property. Open courtyards and expansive frames bring light, air, and the horizon into every corner, while bespoke ceramics and artworks by Mexican artisans add warmth and a sense of local.
Private Residences
For those looking to make this experience permanent, Amanvari is offering private residences. Some sit directly on the beach, others overlook the sea from higher ground, and a few face the Robert Trent Jonas II-designed golf course. Each home centres on courtyards, shaded spaces, and private pools, creating a seamless connection between indoors and out.
Living here also means being part of Costa Palmas, a 1,500-acre estate with 18 acres of organic farms and orchards, a marina, and three miles of swimmable beach. Residents can enjoy these amenities while still retreating into Aman’s world of quiet seclusion.

A Focus on Wellness and Flavour
Wellness is at the heart of Amanvari. The Aman Spa will feature a modern interpretation of the traditional temazcal sweat lodge, alongside spa houses, yoga pavilions, and serene open-air spaces for reflection. The emphasis is on balance, calm, and longevity, expressed in the effortless way Aman is known for.
Dining will be equally considered. Guests can choose from Italian and Japanese restaurants or menus inspired by the seasonal bounty of Baja. Beyond the resort, there are endless ways to connect with nature, including snorkelling in clear waters, hiking desert trails, sailing from the marina, or simply watching the light change over the mountains.
Amanvari is Aman’s first property in Mexico and its sixth in the Americas and Caribbean. It does not arrive with fanfare, but with the quiet confidence the brand is renowned for. Like the tides of the East Cape, it reveals itself gradually, rewarding those who take the time to linger.
When it opens in spring 2026, Amanvari will feel less like a new resort and more like a discovery of a sanctuary where nature, architecture, and tranquillity come together in rare harmony.
