Our philosophy of ‘As slow as possible’ is rooted in the idea that true luxury is created with time, by human hands, and with respect for craft, nature, and community,” says designer Rahul Mishra. The luxury fashion label co-founded in 2008 by Rahul Mishra and his wife Divya Bhatt Mishra, remains a steadfast champion of India’s handwoven textiles, indigenous crafts, and artisanal excellence. As the first Indian designer to receive the International Woolmark Prize in 2014 and debut his collection at Paris Haute Couture Week in 2020, the designer has long been platforming Indian craftsmanship on some of the world’s most prestigious fashion stages. However, global recognition alone was never the end goal: “Our philosophy has never been about building a brand in isolation,” says Divya, “But about building an ecosystem where craftsmanship, creativity, and community can flourish together.”
In a fashion landscape that is growing increasingly democratic and culturally diverse, they note that today’s consumers are looking beyond the label in search of the human stories that lie beneath. That’s also how the Mishras measure success: not merely through tangible milestones on business reports but through the support they extend to their artisans to be able to educate their children, build homes, and provide a better future for their families. M E Moving past limited notions of exclusivity, their idea of luxury is rooted in the depth of human skill, time, and purpose that goes into creating something exceptional. Looking ahead, the duo believes that the next chapter of Indian luxury will be defined not by imitating global standards, but by setting them—by embracing our own stories and cultural richness with confidence. With Robb Report India, they look forward to exchanging such ideas and being part of a community that inspires new perspectives, meaningful conversations, and collaborations that shape culture.
