Athletic, stylish, and powerful, the new BMW 440i xDrive could be yours if you have Rs 1.09 crore to spare. Launched earlier today, it is muscular in the right proportions, has a dominating face with the iconic twin kidney grille, and exudes class. This new car sits in nicely at about six lakhs less than its competitor, the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet. But what does the newbie bring to the party?

BMW 440i xDrive Convertible Features

For starters, it brings colour – eight of them in fact – Portimao Blue, Brooklyn Grey, Cape York Green, Fire Red, Arctic Race Blue, Black Sapphire, Mineral White and Alpine white. Up front, the combination of the oversized glossy black grille and the sharp-edged adaptive LED headlamps creates quite a striking face. The classic convertible silhouette is accented by 19-inch alloy wheels with its double-spoke design and bi-colour finish. At the rear, the package is rounded off with the new CSL style tail lamps that are inspired by the M4 CSL. Further individualisation is possible upon request.

A highlight feature is its panel bow soft-top roof, which combines the solidity of a retractable hardtop with the classical aesthetic of a fabric hood and can be activated at speeds of up to 50kmph. Opening or closing the hood takes 18 seconds.

“The all-new BMW M440i xDrive Convertible exemplifies BMW’s passion for combining exhilarating performance with timeless elegance. With its unmistakable design, powerful M-tuned performance, and refined open-top driving experience, it delivers a new expression of sporting freedom. At BMW Group India, we are proud to introduce a convertible that not only excites behind the wheel, but also represents a distinctive, aspirational lifestyle for our customers,” said Hardeep Singh Brar, CEO, BMW Group India.

Inside, the cabin can be tailored with Sensatec upholstery available in Black, Tacora Red, or Cognac. The large curved display brings a fresh and particularly modern interpretation, while the M leather steering wheel in three-spoke design with a flat-bottomed rim and a discreet centre marking stands out. The new Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M interior trim with ambient lighting offers an elegant feel. Also available are M Seat belts with a woven stripe pattern and a Harman Kardon system with 12 speakers and surround sound.

All of this is backed up by solid performance thanks to the car’s 3-litre 6-cylinder engine that produces 374hp and 500Nm of max torque, which is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. There is also a 48V mild hybrid system that works in conjunction with the internal combustion engine. The result is the ability to do a 0-100km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

The BMW 440i xDrive Convertible features an intelligent all-wheel-drive system and an M Sport rear differential as standard. There is also an adaptive M suspension on offer that will further accentuate the thrill of driving. The M Sport brakes provide not just stopping power but also a dollop of style with their red-painted callipers and M logo.
