Aman has a specific formula for naming its properties. The word Aman itself comes from the Sanskrit for peace, and almost every property in the portfolio combines it with a word drawn from the local language or landscape: Amangiri, from the Navajo for canyon in the desert, in Utah. Amangani, from the Lakota for peaceful home, in Wyoming. Amanzoe, from the Greek for life, in Porto Heli. The naming of Amansanu, the brand's forthcoming ranch resort in Texas Hill Country, follows the same logic, but reaches for Sanskrit rather than local language. Sanu means peak. Together: peaceful peak. It is the right name for a landscape of rolling hills, limestone cliffs, and winding creeks carved over millennia, northwest of Austin in one of the most quietly compelling stretches of American landscape.
Announced on April 23, 2026, Amansanu will be Aman's sixth property in the United States and its first ranch-inspired retreat. The existing American portfolio covers considerable ground: Amangiri in Utah's Canyon Point, Amangani in Wyoming with its Teton views, and Aman New York, among the brand's first city hotels, which opened in 2022. Aman Miami Beach and Aman Beverly Hills are both in the pipeline. Amansanu adds a fifth landscape type to the American story: the Texas ranch.
The resort is designed by Olson Kundig, marking the Seattle-based firm's first collaboration with Aman. Known for architecture that does not impose on its setting, the practice has conceived Amansanu as a contemporary expression of the regional vernacular, with structures positioned to follow the contours of the land and frame expansive views across the valleys beyond. The firm has previously worked on One and Only Moonlight Basin in Montana and the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences in Telluride, Colorado.
The property comprises standalone pavilion guest accommodations alongside a limited collection of fully serviced Aman-branded residences, each set on expansive hillside sites starting at ten acres, with open-plan living spaces, natural materials and expansive terraces. Amenities include a Main Lodge, multiple dining concepts, and an Aman Spa and Wellness Centre positioned along the resort's natural creek, racquet sports courts, and extensive hiking trails.
The detail that distinguishes Amansanu from anything else in the Aman portfolio is its stables. Aman's first fully serviced stables will present an elevated interpretation of the contemporary ranch experience, with horse-riding trails unfolding across the surrounding terrain. For a brand that has built its reputation on placing the landscape at the centre of the experience, Texas Hill Country and the horse are a logical pairing.
Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman Group, described Texas Hill Country as embodying the qualities of rolling landscapes and an independent spirit that align closely with Aman's philosophy. Amansanu joins a growing Americas pipeline that includes Amanvari on Mexico's East Cape, opening summer 2026, Aman Miami Beach, Aman Beverly Hills, and Amancaya in the Bahamas. An opening date for Amansanu has not yet been announced.
