Crafted for the discerning yacht connoisseur who demands both performance and poise, the Invictus ST550 is where refined aesthetics meet purposeful design.
Designed by award-winning Italian designer Christian Grande for Invictus Yachts, this 55-footer reimagines the bow—not as a mere sunbathing deck, but as a focal point for social connection and quiet luxury.
“I began the design of this boat by immediately focusing on the bow area,” says Grande in an exclusive conversation with Robb Report India. His aim was to elevate a space that is often overlooked on yachts of this size. Instead of a flat expanse for lounging, he envisioned a cocooned, elegant gathering spot. “It is well-ventilated and cool when at anchor, and sheltered from prying eyes when moored at the quay. I was inspired by the traditional use of space on shuttles, imagining it as a protected area framed by a high, curved bulwark,” says Grande.
This thoughtfully sculpted forward section—outfitted with a U-shaped sofa and sunbathing pad—blends panoramic views with privacy, reinterpreting outdoor living with quiet opulence. The luxurious upholstery and design details echo the Invictus DNA, enhancing both form and function.

On the ST550, the use of deck space is modern yet balanced with classic styling. Clean lines meet soft contours to create a sense of timeless elegance that stays true to the original Invictus aesthetic, favouring refinement over overt speed or aggression.
“I looked for shapes that evoke a sense of classic elegance, where each form is harmoniously integrated,” Grande notes. “Subtle modern elements are also included, combined with functional features and transformable components to meet the expectations of today’s market,” he adds.
Interior

In the ST550, carbon and mahogany come together to demonstrate the fusion of classic style and contemporary innovation. “Carbon ensures high performance in terms of stability, yet it is concealed beneath special coatings to preserve a refined, understated look, allowing the yacht to retain a classic and dignified character,” remarks Grande.
Mahogany, on the other hand, beautifully expresses its strong marine identity.
The ST550 places strong emphasis on outdoor living, featuring large protective body sides that open to reveal an interior fully upholstered in soft, cotton-like fabrics that are both breathable and comfortable, notes the yacht designer. “These materials are accented with rich leather edging and contrasting stitching, showcasing a high level of craftsmanship and creating an inviting atmosphere for relaxation.”
Invictus offers a wide range of exterior and interior colour options, along with further customisation through the Invictus Atelier programme. The Invictus colour palette now includes new additions—Stone White and Deep Groove. “This programme allows each owner to personalise many aspects of the yacht according to their taste, often with my direct input and guidance. It’s a key element in creating a boat that remains uniquely satisfying and personal over time,” says Grande.
“The market in this segment is extremely competitive, so I designed this boat with a focus on addressing aspects that, in my opinion, competitors had not fully resolved. I carefully optimised every essential element on board—from the spatial layout to the high-end finishes—while ensuring it all came together in a clear, unmistakably authentic Invictus style.”

For the interior furnishings, Grande and his team chose primarily custom-made pieces, with only a few exceptions for selected accessories. “Some of the fine fabrics, for example, come from the renowned Mariaflora company. The use of handcrafted, high-quality materials — both aesthetically and functionally —allowed us to enhance the classic soul of the ST550, offering a high level of personalisation and attention to detail,” he explains.
The Atelier program is dedicated to turning each owner’s vision into reality—within the bounds of what is technically feasible, the designer shares. It often begins with specific requests such as changes in colours and materials and can extend to reconfiguring the layout of interior spaces. “I personally oversee the entire process to ensure the best possible design outcome, while preserving the integrity and spirit of the yacht,” says Grande.
