Over the past decade, wedding photography in India has moved far beyond documentation. Even though the celebrations themselves are fleeting, the one thing that we keep coming back to are photographs. These archives pass between families, are shared across social media, and are revisited years later to live through the good old memories.

Very few understand this better than Siddharth Sharma, Founder and Director of House On The Clouds. Founded in 2016, House On The Clouds has since grown into a sought-after name for destination and celebrity weddings across India and abroad. The studio has documented high-profile weddings, including Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani-Siddharth Malhotra, Kriti Kharbanda-Pulkit Samrat, among others. Most recently, Sharma and his team photographed the widely discussed wedding of actors Rashmika Mandanna and Vijay Deverakonda, whose intimate ceremony in Udaipur drew widespread attention online.

“For us, a destination becomes meaningful not simply because it is visually grand, but for the atmosphere it holds and the stories it allows to unfold within it,” says Sharma during an exclusive conversation with Robb Report India. For Sharma, a place is only a backdrop until emotion fills it. It’s the people, the relationships, and the memories being made that bring a space to life. And when that happens, the destination stops being a mere scenery and becomes a part of the story itself. Here, Siddharth Sharma shares his recommendations on some of the most exotic wedding destinations from around the world.

Udaipur, India

Udaipur remains one of the most emotionally resonant places to get married in. “The lakes, palaces, and old-world textures create a sense of scale and theatre, yet the city also holds intimacy within its courtyards and quieter spaces,” says Sharma. It allows weddings to feel both expansive and deeply personal at once.

Lake Como, also known as Lario (or Lago di Lago di Lario), carries a quiet cinematic quality. Sharma says, “The mountains in the backdrop temper the light, the water reflects mood, and the historic villas naturally frame moments with restraint.” Weddings there often feel less staged and more like scenes unfolding within a story already in motion.

The Pink City offers a rhythm shaped by structure and symmetry. Sharma says, “The geometry of the city’s architecture, the warmth of the sandstone, and its layered heritage give visual clarity to a celebration while still allowing the human story to remain central.”

Tuscany, Italy

Tuscany remains a premium romantic wedding destination known for its never-ending vineyards, historic architecture, and world-class food culture. “The palette is earthy, the architecture timeless, and the landscape expansive without demanding attention,” says Sharma. The destination allows celebrations to feel rooted and warm, where emotion takes precedence over production.

Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, India

Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, in their own ways, bring a powerful sense of place. “Jodhpur’s architectural depth and history lend gravity to the narrative,” says Sharma. “Whereas Jaisalmer introduces horizon, landscape, and the feeling of time stretching outward,” he further adds. In both, weddings feel anchored in geography and memory, and not just the decor.

Southern France

The South of France offers a different balance, elegance paired with ease. “Whether in a château or along the coast, the region carries a lived-in romance,” says Sharma. He further adds, “Its colour, texture, and movement translate on camera in a way that feels both refined and effortless.”

More than anything, what draws us to certain destinations is how they hold time. Cities and landscapes carry histories, atmospheres, and quiet traces of the lives that have passed through them. When people step into these spaces with their own stories, the environment doesn’t simply frame the celebration, it deepens it.
