It’s a masterstroke! Globally renowned as the pinnacle of iconic old world glamour and luxury, Badrutt’s Palace, St. Moritz has been magnetising heads of state, royalty, Hollywood superstars and more for the past 129 years. A few months ago, it announced the opening of a completely new chapter in the hotel's history, the Serlas Wing—one that architecturally creates a bridge between tradition and the future.
Experience it and you will know that this is no mere extension; it’s a whole new concept, a brilliantly constructed new building that houses 25 contemporary, luxurious guestrooms and suites. Each one has its own unique style with upscale details.
The Milan-based architect firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel, not only constructed the handsome six-storey building, but ensured it blends seamlessly into the existing local architecture. Sleek lines and pastel shades infuse the modern suites, interiors enhance and frame panoramic views of the surroundings. Loro Piano’s highly prized wool-fabric lines the wall-panelled corridors, upholstery, curtains, headboards, chairs and bed skirts. Even the lighting design enhances the richness of these materials.

It is interesting to note that while each of the 25 suites is different, they have two significant common features: expansive size and contemporary design.
“We were excited to partner with the Milan-based architects for the development of our new Serlas Wing, as they echo our commitment to marrying the historic charm of our iconic building with the highest level of contemporary design,” says the dapper dynamo General Manager Richard Leuenberger. “This initiative directly caters to the evolving preferences of our multi-generational clientele,” he adds. For sure! It pays homage to the contemporary but continues to retain its luxurious soul.
Palace Pleasures

Of course, you will experience Badrutt's Palace’s legendary service in the Serlas Wing, too, and revel in its enchanting atmosphere in the heart of St. Moritz.
Walk across and revel in the Badrutt’s Palace’s high-ceiling shimmering Le Grand Hall’s piano music over sumptuous meals, traditional afternoon tea, world-class patisserie. Le Restaurant (16 Gault Millau points) serves up a timeless ambience with international and French cuisine. Japanese-Peruvian delicacies by the star chef Nobu, Nobuyuki Matsuhisa are on offer, too. There is a Cigar bar and exuberant dancing at the King’s Social House by Jason Atherton. The list goes on. The hotel has 12 restaurants, two bars, and a nightclub.
In winter, explore one of the most exciting ski resorts in the world. In summer, the sun-kissed Alps bristle with activities, including driving in the hotel’s Rolls-Royce, going for a round at the oldest golf course in Switzerland.

For over a century, Badrutt’s Palace has been synonymous with joie de vivre (joy of life) and a unique sense of belonging in its historic and iconic palace. Spa, wellness, swimming pools, and wellbeing is taken care of with equal expertise.
Interestingly, this brand new Serlas Wing is connected to the old Badrutt’s Palace with an innovative underground pedestrian tunnel system that includes the longest hotel escalator (18,79 meters) in Switzerland. Guests can retain their privacy and have the best of both worlds: the contemporary and the traditional. Both equally supreme and world class—therein lies the Badrutt magic!
RR Verdict
This one promises an experience of an unusual kind, a beautiful amalgamation of the rich history of Badrutt’s Palace and the bold progress marked by its new wing, Serlas. The fusion gets our stamp of approval.
