London brims with luxury hotels. So, when The Peninsula Hotels, a centuryold prestigious chain operated by The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels Limited (HSH), decided to break into the market, it was no easy feat. It took the acclaimed Asian brand around three decades and £1 billion to foray into London’s hospitality scene in 2023—and it was worth the wait.
The hotel is located on the corner of Grosvenor Place, between Hyde Park Corner and Wellington Arch. Some of London’s most iconic attractions, including Buckingham Palace, The Royal Parks, The Palace of Westminster, Harrods, and the boutiques of Bond Street are located within easy access. Landscaped as a classic English garden with cascading ivy and wisteria vines, its expansive courtyard ensures a grand, off-street arrival.

Standing tall as the 12th property in The Peninsula Hotel’s portfolio, the hotel has been designed to harmonise with the surrounding leafy Belgravia neighbourhood. Its 190 exquisitely styled rooms and suites, designed by architect Peter Marino, boast of sleek, spacious aesthetics, finely crafted furnishings, chic artworks, and floor-to-ceiling windows. The suites and signature suites feature expansive living areas, curated artwork, and exclusive personalised amenities, too.

On the dining front, there are seven F&B outlets that take guests on a global culinary journey. The hotel’s signature rooftop restaurant, Brooklands by Claude Bosi, offers a menu crafted from the finest British ingredients using traditional French techniques. The Lobby serves globally inspired fare and the signature Peninsula Afternoon Tea amidst handpainted de Gournay murals, soaring ceilings with crystal chandeliers, and live music. Canton Blue and its adjacent Little Blue Noodle Bar, together create innovative Cantonese cuisine, cocktails, and speciality teas. The Peninsula Boutique & Café has a collection of signature products, including artisanal chocolates and fine gifts. For a nightcap, head to Brooklands Bar, which overlooks London’s glittering skyline. Or sit with a fine cigar at an elegant rooftop corner at The Tasting Room.
Visit The Peninsula Spa and Wellness Centre for traditional and contemporary therapies. Or take a leisurely lap in the hotel’s 25-metre heated pool. The hotel’s collection of event venues, ranging from the pillarless St. George Ballroom (with back-of-house elevators large enough for motorcars) to an intimate private cinema, are all equally impressive.
