Our schedules today are packed, and the constant rush doesn’t just exhaust us physically; it chips away our emotional energy too. While a weekend escape spent lounging in plunge pools under the sun sounds ideal, I realised there is so much more a quick getaway can offer after I returned from my self and moon healing retreat at Six Senses Fort Barwara.

A favourite among Delhiites, Jaipur residents, and travellers from across the country, this serene escape, nestled amidst the Aravallis and lush greenery, offers more than just a break from routine. The property’s newly introduced transformative lunar healing experience redefined how I  viewed weekend getaways altogether.

Stress had been building up for months, and I knew I needed a pause. Even though Six Senses Fort Barwara felt far from home, it welcomed me like one. The arrival ritual began with soothing chants for my emotional well-being instantly eased the fatigue of my nearly five-hour journey from Delhi. I sipped on their in-house cola, feeling a little more of the stress melt away. But what I was truly looking forward to was the self and moon healing experience that began the next morning.

The day started with a meditation session at the yoga pavilion, led by our instructor, Ashraf. Post meditation, we were handed notepads and asked to write down everything we felt, every emotion that surfaced. I found myself filling up nearly the entire page. As instructed, I folded the sheet and held onto it for the next ritual.

We gathered around a havan kund, chanted mantras to invite peace and release negativity. One by one, we put our notes into the fire and walked around the kund. There was something deeply cathartic about the act, I felt instantly lighter. A wholesome breakfast followed.

By early evening, it was time for Chandra Namaskar practice along with sound healing. I soaked in the vibrations as I lay down on a comfortable mattress, surrounded by sound bowls. The gentle cooing of birds outside, combined with the breeze drifting in through the windows, elevated the experience into something truly meditative.

The experience culminated at the Radhe Krishna temple within the property. After the evening aarti, we began preparing our puja thalis for the full Moon Mantra Ceremony led by Panditji, wherein we recited sacred chants, did Chandra aarti, and sought blessings by placing our glowing diyas into the small Ganga ji pond at the centre of the mahal. And in the next moment, I found myself simply standing still, gazing up at the moon, feeling a deep sense of calm.

While weekend getaways can be many, the one that heals you from within just hits different, doesn’t it?
