Bvlgari has achieved what very few maisons in the world of haute horology have ever dared to attempt. With the Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC, the brand now holds the title for the world’s thinnest mechanical wristwatch. Measuring an astonishing 1.70 millimetres in total thickness, the watch is thinner than most credit cards, yet houses a fully certified COSC movement. To create a timepiece this thin without compromising precision or reliability is a feat that pushes the boundaries of what watchmaking can be. The result is not only a masterpiece of engineering but a pure expression of Bvlgari’s philosophy, where innovation, restraint, and elegance coexist effortlessly.

Record-Breaking Engineering in Haute Horology

To go this thin, Bvlgari had to dismantle every assumption about traditional watch construction. Instead of building a separate movement that sits inside a case, Bvlgari made the case back part of the movement, merging architecture and mechanics into a single structural entity. More than 170 components sit within a body thinner than most credit cards. Ultra-light Grade 5 titanium lends strength without adding weight, while the exposed movement components form a graphic design language all on their own. There is nothing ornamental here. Every gear, bridge, and wheel serves a purpose, contributing to a visual expression of precision in motion.

What makes the Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC remarkable is that while it pushes technical boundaries, it never abandons elegance. The bold Octo case design, inspired by Roman geometry, remains instantly recognisable even at this minute scale. The watch is assembled at Bvlgari’s Swiss manufacture, ensuring mechanical reliability, and the movement is COSC-certified, guaranteeing chronometric performance. The result is a rare balance: Italian artistry on the outside and Swiss precision at its heart. It feels less like an accessory and more like a piece of wearable architecture.
