Louis Vuitton Monterey Ceramic Watch Collection: Green and Black Luxury Watches

Louis Vuitton is giving one of its most distinctive watches a new lease of life. The Louis Vuitton Monterey Ceramic watch returns in two new versions for 2026, pairing the collection's unmistakable pebble-shaped silhouette with glossy ceramic cases in green and black. Inspired by the original LV I and LV II watches from 1988, designed in collaboration with Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti, the new Monterey Ceramic keeps the unusual proportions and 12 o'clock crown of its predecessor while replacing its quartz movement with an in-house automatic calibre. Both these Louis Vuitton Monterey Ceramic watches are also part of the permanent collection, rather than being limited editions.

Louis Vuitton Monterey Ceramic Green Watch

The more colourful of the two is the Monterey Ceramic Ref. W0CR21, which takes a deliberately monochromatic approach. Its 37mm polished green ceramic case is matched with a matte lacquered green dial, while a white railway-style track and white numerals provide contrast. The most striking detail is the pair of yellow lacquered hour and minute hands, complemented by a blue seconds hand. The watch comes on a green calf-leather strap with tone-on-tone stitching, creating an unusually cohesive look from case to strap. At 37mm, the Monterey is notably compact by contemporary luxury-watch standards. The pebble-shaped case has no conventional projecting lugs, allowing the rounded ceramic form to dominate the design, while the Clous de Paris steel crown at 12 o'clock remains one of its defining visual signatures.

Louis Vuitton Monterey Ceramic Black Watch

The Monterey Ceramic Ref. W0CR11 takes a more traditional black-and-white route. Its glossy black ceramic case surrounds a matte white lacquer dial, with black and red railway markings and red hour and minute hands. A blue seconds hand adds another small flash of colour. The black model is finished with a black grained calf-leather strap featuring red contrast stitching, echoing the red details on the dial. Like the green edition, it measures 37mm and is water-resistant to 30 metres.

Inside the Louis Vuitton Monterey Ceramic

Both versions are powered by Louis Vuitton's LFT MA01.02 self-winding mechanical movement, developed and assembled by La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton. The 174-component calibre measures 23mm across and 5.4mm thick, runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 45-hour power reserve.

Its 750/1000 rose-gold oscillating weight is decorated with the LV Monogram, although the movement is hidden beneath a closed steel caseback. The watches use sapphire crystals with anti-reflective coating and offer 30-metre water resistance.

A 1988 Louis Vuitton Icon, Reworked for 2026

The Monterey's appeal lies in how little it resembles a conventional luxury watch. Its pebble-shaped case and crown at 12 o'clock were unusual when the original appeared in 1988, and they remain just as distinctive today.

The new ceramic versions preserve that character while making the watch unmistakably contemporary. The green Monterey is the bolder, more fashion-forward interpretation, while the black-and-white version stays closer to the graphic spirit of the original.
