Bvlgari’s Latest Launch, The Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch, Revives an Ancient Roman Motif
Bvlgari's Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch is a jewellery-forward timepiece that conceals history, craftsmanship, and micro-mechanics beneath a Roman coin.

For anyone who pays close attention to watches, Bvlgari occupies an unusual and compelling space. It is one of the few maisons that can speak fluently in both high jewellery and serious watchmaking without forcing a crossover. The Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch, unveiled at LVMH Watch Week 2026, sits right at that intersection. It does not chase trends or complications. Instead, it refines an idea Bvlgari has been exploring for decades.
What Is the Bvlgari Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch?
The Monete story dates back to the 1960s, when Bvlgari began setting genuine ancient coins into jewellery. This watch continues that lineage with an authentic Roman silver coin from AD 198 to 297, bearing the portrait of Emperor Caracalla. The coin is not decorative alone. It functions as a hinged cover, opening to reveal the dial beneath, staying true to the tradition of secret watches.
The case is made from 18-carat rose gold and framed by an octagonal bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds. Open the coin, and you see a white mother-of-pearl dial with diamond hour markers and rose-gold-plated hands. It is clean, legible, and deliberately understated, allowing the coin to remain the focal point.
Milanese Mesh Bracelet and Jewellery Craftsmanship
What really sets this piece apart is the bracelet. For the first time in the Monete line, Bvlgari has used a Milanese mesh bracelet crafted entirely in rose gold. For watch enthusiasts, this detail matters. Milanese mesh is difficult to execute well, especially in precious metal, and Bvlgari’s background as a Roman jeweller shows here.
The mesh feels fluid and textile-like on the wrist, very different from a traditional link bracelet. It sits flat, moves naturally, and reinforces the idea that this is jewellery you wear, not hardware you strap on. A rose-gold pin buckle completes the look, another subtle but deliberate choice that keeps the watch elegant rather than overtly technical.
Inside the Bvlgari Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch
Inside the case is Bvlgari’s Piccolissimo BVP100 calibre. At 13.5 mm wide and 2.5 mm thick, it is one of the smallest round mechanical movements in production today. It is hand-wound, runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour, and offers a 30-hour power reserve. Most of the movement remains hidden, but a small caseback aperture confirms that this is a proper mechanical watch, not a quartz compromise.
The Maglia Milanese Monete Secret Watch is priced at approximately €157,000 (around Rs 14.1 crore). It is not positioned as a daily watch or a collector’s safe queen. Instead, it is for someone who understands what Bvlgari does differently.
