The Darzi Group’s 40-Year Legacy of Precision, Fabric and Craft

In a world where fast fashion is rising, The Darzi Group continues to keep craftsmanship at its centre.

While several Indian menswear brands increasingly lean on convenience, The Darzi Group builds on a reputation on mastery. For more than 40 years, The Darzi Group has shaped the wardrobes of men who understand that true style begins at the cutting table.

Legacy in Style

The brand’s journey started in 1981, when founder Sunil Mital returned to India after professional training in London. He carried with him a conviction to give India its own bespoke institution in tailoring. With this commitment, The Darzi Group became one of the country’s earliest adopters of computerised tailoring systems, integrating modern precision with the age-old rituals of handcraft.

When Sushain Mital, a gold medallist from the London College of Fashion with hands-on training on Savile Row, joined the business three decades later, he brought a global, design-forward lens to his father’s legacy. As a professionally qualified bespoke tailor, he fused lineage know-how with technical prowess. Today, Sunil’s unwavering dedication to craft anchors the house, while Sushain’s global sensibility lifts it firmly into modern luxury. The result is a synthesis anchored on precision. Even today, when you enter the store, Sunil is often spotted at the cutting table, while Sushain anchors the retail section.

Each creation is preceeded by consultations that go beyond measurement; it interprets the wearer’s posture, rhythm, personality and setting. Patterns are built to enhance how the fabric moves.

A Fabric Library

If bespoke tailoring is the art of understanding the client, then fabric is its medium. And in this arena, The Darzi Group stands unparalleled. Studio Firang, established as the group’s fabric-forward division, houses cloths curated from Italy and the UK. There are versatile suiting blends, high-performance wool, featherlight cashmeres, and even woven jacquards, among others.

They also house Mirasu, launched in 2016 to provide fabrics that few makers worldwide have access to. Think vicuña, guanaco, exclusive Super counts, and capsule collections that exist in only a handful of pieces globally.

Craftsmanship Without Compromise

One of the most unique aspects of The Darzi Group is its ability to maintain boutique-level finesse while operating at a scale rarely seen in luxury tailoring. Every garment passes through multiple expert hands—from master cutters who interpret posture and structure, to tailors trained in heritage and contemporary techniques, and finally to the finishers whose handwork gives each piece its final personality. This orchestration allows the brand to deliver complex garments with precision, and on time.

Beyond bespoke, the brand also offers a ready-towear range curated from fine European labels. From Italian shirting and tailored knits to handcrafted footwear, the offering reinforces the brand’s role as an all-rounded menswear authority.

Setting The Benchmark

In a landscape where bespoke is increasingly misused as a marketing term, The Darzi Group remains the one house where the word still holds its true meaning. To choose The Darzi Group is to choose a philosophy: one that values intentionality over haste, quality over quantity, and character over trend.
