Shah Rukh Khan, the “King of Bollywood,” has long been celebrated not only for his cinematic influence but also for his business acumen. At the centre of his empire is the Kolkata Knight Riders, in which he is set to hold nearly 90% ownership, making it the crown jewel of his investment portfolio. Beyond KKR, Khan has diversified strategically across global sports franchises, media, experiential learning, luxury assets, and forward‑looking ventures. Here is a closer look at some of his most luxurious and meticulously chosen investments to date.

Kolkata Knight Riders

At the centre of Khan’s investment universe is the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Indian Premier League franchise he co-owns through Red Chillies Entertainment. With his stake now approaching 90%, KKR stands as one of the most valuable sports assets in Indian cricket, with valuations estimated upwards of Rs 13,000 crore. Revenue streams include central media rights, sponsorships, merchandising, and match-day income. Over time, KKR has evolved into a global sports brand, representing one of the most successful franchise investments in Indian sport.

Knight Riders Group

Beyond the IPL, Khan has expanded the Knight Riders brand into a global sports network. Under the Knight Riders Group, he holds stakes in Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the International League T20, and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket in the United States. Together, these franchises position Khan as one of the most prominent private investors in global cricket, offering long-term exposure to emerging sports markets and international broadcast revenues.

Mannat, Bandra

Among Shah Rukh Khan’s most recognisable assets is Mannat, his Grade III heritage bungalow in Bandra, Mumbai. Overlooking the Arabian Sea, the property is estimated to be valued at approximately ₹200 crore. Beyond its monetary worth, Mannat has become a cultural landmark, reflecting both legacy and permanence. The residence has undergone extensive interior customisation over the years, blending privacy with architectural grandeur, and remains one of India’s most talked-about private homes.

Palm Jumeirah Villa

Internationally, Khan owns a luxury villa on Palm Jumeirah in Dubai. Acquired in the mid-2000s, the property features private beach access and bespoke interiors designed for resort-style living. Situated among some of the world’s most expensive homes, the villa reflects Khan’s preference for global real estate assets that combine lifestyle appeal with long-term capital appreciation.

Red Chillies Entertainment

Red Chillies Entertainment, founded by Khan and Gauri Khan, remains a cornerstone of his business interests. The company spans film production, distribution, and one of India’s most advanced visual effects studios, Red Chillies VFX. Over the years, it has delivered high-profile cinematic projects while also offering VFX services to external productions. The company’s diversified revenue model positions it as one of the most sophisticated privately held media ventures in India.

KidZania India

Khan holds a reported 26% stake in KidZania India, the Indian arm of the global edutainment chain operating in Mumbai and Noida. Designed as an experiential learning environment for children, KidZania blends education with immersive role-play. The investment reflects a strategic move into experiential consumer businesses, offering steady long-term returns while aligning with premium family entertainment.

Tech and Start-Up Investments

In addition to large-scale assets, Khan has selectively backed early-stage ventures through private investments. These include Meerkat, a live-streaming social platform; Numi, a personalised health and wellness app; MirrAR, an augmented reality and live-streaming technology venture; and Mythik, a media-tech platform focused on mythology-driven digital storytelling. While smaller in scale compared to his sports and real estate holdings, these investments reflect a forward-looking approach to innovation and digital consumption.
