At DLF Emporio of Delhi earlier this week, Tod's introduced My Signature, a new personalisation service for its T Signature collection that brings an individual touch to the Italian luxury house’s accessories. The service allows clients to customise selected pieces with gold-tone metal initials, taking the product to higher experiential heights, giving a personal dimension to objects defined by the brand’s established vocabulary of leather, hardware and understated design.

At the heart of the initiative is the T Signature Bag, a structured calfskin leather design distinguished by the collection’s signature T-shaped metal detail. The bag’s appeal lies in its balance of form and restraint: a recognisable design feature gives it character without overwhelming its silhouette. With My Signature, Tod’s heralds another layer to this design, allowing the wearer to make the accessory uniquely their own while retaining the features that identify it as part of the collection.

The service extends beyond the bag to selected accessories from the Fall-Winter collection unveiled on the runway. The T Signature Belt and T Signature Bracelet can also be personalised with initials, bringing the same treatment to pieces that occupy different places in a wardrobe. The proposition is straightforward: familiar designs acquire a more individual significance through a detail chosen by the person who wears them.

The Personal Meaning Of An Accessory

In contemporary luxury ecology, personalisation occupies an interesting place. While monograms and initials have long been symbols of the said concept, the practice has taken on renewed relevance in a market where recognisable products are often shared across international wardrobes.

For Tod’s, My Signature builds on the T Signature collection rather than introducing a separate design language. The initials are intended to complement the existing hardware and silhouette, preserving the restraint that characterises the collection. The result is a form of personalisation that depends on a small intervention rather than a complete transformation.

The T Signature Bag has attracted a following among fashion figures and celebrities, including Demi Moore, Naomi Watts, Bianca Balti, Lili Reinhart, Simone Ashley and Helena Christensen. Its appeal rests in part on the recognisability of its design, but the new service shifts attention towards the relationship between an accessory and its owner. The bag remains identifiable as a Tod’s creation, even as the initials introduce a detail particular to the individual.

Kulsum Shadab Wahab On Personalisation And Personal Style

The launch event was also done in collaboration with Kulsum Shadab Wahab, founder of The Hothur Foundation and Ara Lumiere to support recovery, independence and the rebuilding of lives of women associated with the foundation. Her reflections on My Signature, however, speak to the more intimate question of what makes a luxury object worth keeping.

“I believe luxury becomes meaningful when it reflects the individuality of the person who owns it,” Wahab says. “Personalisation adds a layer of intimacy to an object, allowing it to hold a personal story or become an expression of one’s identity. It is this connection that gives an object value beyond its craftsmanship or design, and makes it something to treasure over time.”

The distinction she draws is between an accessory as a marker of recognition and one that develops meaning through ownership. Initials may be a modest addition, but they can change how a piece is regarded, moving it away from the anonymity of a widely available design towards something more closely associated with its wearer.

Wahab’s own approach to dressing reflects a preference for classic forms with distinctive details. “My personal style is rooted in classic design, but I have always enjoyed pieces with a strong point of view,” she says. “I am drawn to timeless silhouettes, distinctive details and accessories that bring character to an ensemble without feeling dictated by trends.”

She sees a similar balance in the T Signature collection, where an identifiable design element sits within an otherwise restrained composition. For her, personal style is less about following seasonal shifts than developing a visual language that remains consistent over time.

That distinction also informs her view of exclusivity. “For me, an accessory becomes personal when it reflects your taste and sensibility, rather than simply signalling a particular brand or status,” she says. “Ultimately, the most meaningful pieces are those that feel like a natural extension of who you are, and that you continue to return to over time.”

Craftsmanship, Identity And Longevity

My Signature arrives at a time when luxury houses are exploring more and more ways to make established designs feel more individual, immediate, and uniquely personal without compromising their recognisable identities. In that vein, Tod’s approach places the emphasis on a carefully considered addition rather than novelty for its own sake. Gold-tone initials introduce a personal marker, while the leatherwork, construction and signature hardware remain central to the object.

The service also raises a larger question about longevity in luxury: whether an object’s value is determined solely by its materials and manufacture, or whether it grows through the associations accumulated over years of use. Personalisation cannot replace craftsmanship, but it can give a well-made accessory a more tender and specific place in its owner’s life.

With My Signature, Tod’s extends the T Signature collection beyond the appeal of a recognisable silhouette. The initiative allows clients to participate in the final expression of a design, making a small but deliberate choice about how it represents them. It is a restrained proposition, in keeping with the collection itself, and one that locates individuality not in conspicuous alteration but in a detail that carries personal meaning.
