Regulatory filings reportedly indicate iPhone 18 Pro Max battery may well hit the 5,567mAh mark for the U.S. version, potentially making it the largest battery ever fitted to an iPhone. A separate filing reportedly lists a battery capacity of 5391mAh for a version with a physical SIM slot. Apple has yet to confirm either figure.

The reported iPhone 18 Pro Max battery capacity of 5567mAh would represent a notable increase over the current iPhone 17 Pro Max. For context, Apple’'s official India specifications rate the iPhone 17 Pro Max for up to 37 hours of video playback - Apple does not publish any iPhone battery capacity on its consumer specifications page.

The difference between the alleged U.S. and physical-SIM versions is particularly interesting. Reports suggest the larger capacity could be linked to the space saved by removing the physical SIM tray in eSIM-only markets. The US iPhone has been eSIM-only since the iPhone 14 generation, potentially giving Apple additional room for battery hardware. 

iPhone 18 Pro Max Capacity Is Only Part of the Story

A larger iPhone 18 Pro Max battery does not automatically translate into a proportional increase in real-world endurance. Battery performance also depends on the processor, display, modem, software, and power-management systems working behind the scenes.

Apple has officially announced a September 9 event at 10:30 PM IST, where the company is expected to unveil its next-generation iPhone lineup. The iPhone 18 Pro Max itself has not yet been confirmed on Apple’s website.
