The luxury SUV segment doesn't stand still, and neither does Mercedes. New features and improvements are a constant endeavour to provide a better, smoother and more luxurious ride. With the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680, the German marque has refined its flagship SUV with a more powerful V8, a tech-laden Hyperscreen cabin and even greater levels of comfort. Rather than reinventing an icon, the facelift focuses on making every detail feel more effortless; from the drive to the rear-seat experience.
The updates begin with a redesigned front fascia featuring the signature three-pointed-star LED daytime running lights, an illuminated Maybach grille and an optional illuminated Mercedes bonnet emblem. New shades, Dark Petrol and Verde Silver Metallic, join the colour palette, while standard 22-inch alloy wheels and optional 23-inch monoblocks reinforce the SUV's commanding road presence. Illuminated powered side steps and Maybach logo projectors add another touch of theatre before you even step inside.
The biggest transformation happens inside. The Mercedes Hyperscreen now stretches across the dashboard with three 12.3-inch displays running the latest MB.OS, complete with an AI assistant powered by ChatGPT, Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot.
Mercedes has also enhanced cabin insulation for an even quieter ride, upgraded the front seat massage functions and extended the rear-seat massage to the footrests. A 15-speaker Burmester 3D surround sound system with a 710W amplifier completes the experience.
Under the bonnet sits Mercedes-Benz's updated 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. Output now rises to 603 hp and 850 Nm, with an additional 23 hp available through temporary electric boost. Revised steering and new cloud-based predictive dampers work with the air suspension to deliver an even smoother and more composed ride.
The 2026 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 isn't about dramatic reinvention. Instead, it perfects what already made it one of the world's finest luxury SUVs, proving that in the ultra-luxury segment, the smallest refinements often make the biggest difference.
