If the CLE Cabriolet is about open-top cruising, the CLE 53 AMG is all about delivering a raw, unfiltered, and thrilling motoring experience.
Fulfilling their promise of rolling out eight new models in 2025, Mercedes-Benz India has brought in the formidable CLE 53 AMG. The price, however, is anything but modest, standing at INR 1.35 crores due to the hefty tax on direct imports. This track-bred coupe lands fresh after the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 was launched a couple of months ago.
The heart of this story lies under the imposing bonnet. Housing a 3.0-litre inline-6 twin-turbo petrol engine pushing out 450 hp and 560 newton-metre (Nm) of torque, the CLE 53 AMG also packs a 48V mild-hybrid system that delivers an extra 40 Nm in overboost mode. It catapults from 0–100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds, with top speed climbing to 270 kmph when equipped with the AMG Driver’s Package (otherwise capped at 250 kmph). Power flows through Mercedes’ 9-speed dual-clutch gearbox to the AMG 4MATIC+ AWD system, complete with Launch Control and Drift Mode for serious track-day fun.

Visually, the CLE 53 Coupe doesn’t hold back. The aggressive Panamericana grille with AMG badging, massive air intakes, and twin power domes on the bonnet scream performance. The Affalterbach crest sits proudly, flanked by digital headlamps with adaptive high beam. Rolling on 20-inch matte black AMG alloys paired with red brake calipers, it wears a staggered rubber, 265/35 at the front and 295/30 at the rear. A 2.5-degree rear-axle steering system tightens manoeuvrability in the city and sharpens stability around corners. Add in flared fenders, a glossy rear diffuser, and a quad-exhaust setup, and its sporty intent is undeniable. Despite the two-door coupe form, its 4,941 mm length and 2,041 mm width means that it takes up as much space as a full-size seven-seater SUV.
Inside, it’s a proper performance lounge. Black leather AMG bucket seats with contrasting red stitching and generous Alcantara trims set the tone. The AMG Supersport steering wheel complements a 12.3-inch driver display, and a vertically-stacked 11.9-inch infotainment screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. Premium touches include a head-up display, belt feeder, panoramic sunroof, a 17-speaker Burmester system with Dolby Atmos, and even a fingerprint sensor to safeguard your personal settings and navigation history.
Given the performance figures, the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 lines up against the BMW M2, which is priced at INR 1.03 crore.
