Ever since Formula one legend Lewis Hamilton moved from Mercedes to Ferrari nasty comments dogged his tail and this was especially so as he was not able to keep up with the flying pace of the likes of McLaren and Mercedes. Fans were disappointed when they saw that the prancing horse cars driven by Charles LeClerc and Hamilton were coming up second best to Mercedes and McLaren especially. The really unkind comments indicated that Hamilton should actually retire because of his age and give someone younger a chance to drive the F1 car and make Ferrari really competitive. He is 41 years old. Well, Hamilton has a clear message for everyone. Far from thoughts of retirement, Hamilton says he is in for the long run at Ferrari and proved a few points by bagging 5th spot during the F1 Canadian GP Sprint Qualifying.

Yes, Hamilton has answered all the critics by saying he has no intention of retiring anytime soon and that they better "get used to it". He hinted that he is intent on ensuring his stay in F1 last as long as possible simply because his "passion" for the sport is as strong as ever. "I’m still focused, I’m still motivated, I still love what I do with all my heart," he said while speaking to Formula1. He mentioned that he has even prepared a 5-year plan for himself in Formula One.

The 6 times Formula One drivers’ championships winner for Mercedes also revealed that "There’s a lot of people that are trying to retire me."

Hamilton also revealed that he was "happy" and comfortable at Ferrari and his relationship with the teams he was working with is good.

Things seem to be working out on the track too as during the F1 Canadian GP Sprint qualifying, Hamilton was dominating initially, leaving George Russell and Kimi Antonelli behind. However, Mercedes and McLaren were able to beat his Ferrari back to the fifth spot, indicating these teams were able to make changes and deliver the kind of performance expected from them over the last few weeks and the continued fading of Red Bull and Max Verstappen.
