Research suggests that buying a home is the most emotional purchase decision a human makes. The second one is buying a car. So, how does one describe the riot of emotions that the owner of N°001 Minami Aoyama is likely to feel?

In case you’re wondering what this is all about, we’re talking about the launch of the first-ever luxury home project in Asia by British icon Aston Martin. Located in Tokyo’s highly coveted Omotesandō neighbourhood, the project sees the coming together of Aston and Japan’s luxury real estate developer Vibroa Inc.

The four-storey luxury townhouse is a brilliant showcase of what happens when high-end tech and bespoke craftsmanship are united under a single design language. The house itself has a total floor area of nearly 7,800 square feet or 724 square metres, but the party piece has to be the automotive gallery.

This showcase space offers two off-street parking spots on the ground floor. The spaces feature adaptive lighting and a wave-like texture on the metal ceiling and are designed to present a couple of Astons as if they were works of art. A special glass panel allows the vehicles to be seen from the lounge as clearly as they can be seen from the street.

The design takes advantage of the site’s natural slope to create a basement that houses not only a gym, a wine cellar, but also a golf simulator system. The house also features a dramatic origami-inspired staircase created from folded steel. The impressive terrace houses a kitchen and also offers great views of the famous Tokyo Tower. The first floor offers a spa, which includes a sauna and spa bath with Hinoki timber cladding.

A specially installed Bowers & Wilkins sound system ensures that the residents get the same aural experience no matter where they are on the property. Oh, and in case we forgot to mention, it has three bedrooms.

N°001 Minami Aoyama is where the language of luxury shifts gears, from auto to architecture.
