Travel is shaped by more than the destination itself. It is about the people who curate the journey, the places that make a stay memorable and the experiences that stay with you long after you return. With this in mind, we introduce the RR Travel Circle. This November, Robb Report India turns its focus to the world of travel, bringing together a distinguished group of voices with a deep understanding of the journeys, places and experiences that define it. Hoteliers, heritage custodians, concierges and travel curators who, between them, understand how Indian travel is planned, experienced, hosted and talked about. Over the coming weeks, this circle will be our guide through the theme, offering recommendations, insights and a closer look at where Indian travel is headed. Think of it as a conversation with people who know the road well.
Here is who you will be hearing from.
Few people have shaped the way India stays as closely as Kapil Chopra. As founder and CEO of The Postcard Hotel, founded in 2018, he built an experiential luxury boutique hotel brand around intimate properties in hidden and scenic destinations, which makes him a natural guide to where the most memorable stays are found. Before that, he served as President of The Oberoi Group from 2013 to 2018, and his time at Hyatt International and the Taj Mahal Hotel in Delhi gives him a view of luxury hospitality from every side. He is also co-founder of EazyDiner, the table-reservation and restaurant-discovery platform, so he understands how people choose where to eat as well as where to sleep. An avid collector of modern and contemporary Indian art, he brings bold and socially observant pieces into his properties. For the RR Travel Circle, he offers the eye of a hotelier who treats every stay as a journey in itself, and who knows what makes a place worth the trip.
Luxury travel today is as much about access as it is about places, and few understand that better than Karan Bhangay. Hailing from Hyderabad and based in Goa, he is Founder and CEO of Indulge Global, an invite-only premium concierge and luxury lifestyle management platform founded in 2022 with co-founder Advita Bihani. It works as a tech-enabled lifestyle manager for ultra high-net-worth individuals, celebrities and tech founders, fulfilling hyper-customised requests over a frictionless WhatsApp-based network, from high-end travel itineraries to booking exclusive suites in Paris. His roots in luxury run deep, from co-publishing the national luxury magazine Avantgarde, after leaving his software engineering degree in its final year, to pioneering The Indian Luxury Expo in 2012, which grew into a multi-city exhibition connecting global premium brands with elite consumers in India. His appearances on Shark Tank India and Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out brought attention to the spending habits and convenience demands of the ultra-wealthy. For the RR Travel Circle, he offers an insider’s view of what the most discerning travellers ask for.
Travel has grown more personal and more purposeful, and Taruna Seth’s work sits firmly in that space. Based in New Delhi, she is Founder of Encompass Experiences, a boutique travel company specialising in experiential, conscious and highly personalised luxury tourism. Through it, she designs immersive journeys and wellness retreats that focus on emotional depth, sustainable tourism and community-centric itineraries, and she hosts Detour with Taruna Seth, a conscious travel podcast that explores stories from travel experts and industry mavericks. Her background spans more than fifteen years in public relations, television and developmental work. She studied international affairs and organizational studies, serves as a Director on the board of Metro Tyres Limited, and was named in the 40 Under 40 Future Leaders 2026 list by CEO India Weekly. For the RR Travel Circle, she brings the perspective of a curator for whom travel is as conscious as it is luxurious.
Few people have turned heritage into hospitality as carefully as Abhishek Honawar. As Founder and CEO of Honar Group, a boutique hospitality management and consulting firm, he reimagines historic and culturally significant real estate into luxury properties that blend traditional Indian art, culture and architecture with modern luxury. The Johri, a five-suite sanctuary inside a restored nineteenth-century haveli in Jaipur’s historic bazaar, has received accolades as well. The Sarvato, a fine-dining hub and cultural destination within the City Palace precincts, partnered with Maharaja Sawai Padmanabh Singh, was inducted into the Relais & Châteaux collection. Operating between Mumbai and New York, he co-founded Neighbourhood Hospitality in Mumbai, behind Woodside Inn, The Pantry Café and Bombay Vintage, and INDAY in Manhattan, a culinary brand serving health-focused, India-inspired bowls. For the RR Travel Circle, he brings the sensibility of someone who restores heritage so that travellers can stay inside it.
Heritage travel in Rajasthan has a distinctive voice for Abhimanyu Alsisar, known as the Prince of Alsisar, a nobleman from the royal house of Alsisar and the Raja of Khetri. He is custodian of his family’s historical real estate, which he has converted into luxury heritage hotels: Alsisar Mahal in Jhunjhunu, a seventeenth-century palace; Alsisar Haveli in Jaipur, a townhouse built in 1892 where his family still resides; Nahargarh near the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve; and Abheygarh in Khetri, his newer, hyper-exclusive property. In 2013 he co-founded Magnetic Fields, a curated three-day festival of electronic music, art and underground culture held at his ancestral palace, which has become one of India’s most iconic and exclusive boutique festivals. He has also launched Durbar by Godawan to promote indigenous Rajasthani art, music and premium hospitality. By employing hundreds of local craftsmen and villagers across his properties, he has revitalised rural economies. For the RR Travel Circle, he offers the view of a host for whom heritage is meant to be experienced.
