Range Rover launches the SV Ultra in India at Rs 3.8 crore, positioning it at the pinnacle of luxury SUVs. Beyond its 530hp mild-hybrid V8, the highlight is a groundbreaking electrostatic audio system with 21 ultra-light panels, Body and Soul Seats and a sensory floor, creating an immersive, power-efficient soundscape inside a meticulously crafted, leather-free, two-tone cabin.
Range Rover has just dropped its finest into India. Say hello to the Range Rover SV Ultra. At Rs. 3.8 crore, this sits right up there in the world of luxury SUVs. But what do you get for your money? Of course, it's powerful with a 530hp V8 with mild hybrid tech under that solid bonnet, but that’s not why this particular Range Rover is brilliant. The Range Rover SV Ultra hides a bunch of tricks up its wheel arches.
For the first time in the automotive world, globally, the Range Rover SV Ultra gets electrostatic sound technology. The system uses 21 lightweight electrostatic panels embedded in the winged headrests, seatback and normal speaker locations. These deliver a continuous flow of sound, which results in a seamless auditory experience for the occupant. Designed to transmit natural, clear audio with detail and precision, each electrostatic speaker contains an ultra-light, ultra-responsive membrane just 1mm thick. The membrane sits between two perforated metallic plates across which an audio signal is applied, responding up to 1,000 times faster than a traditional speaker. It also needs up to 90 per cent less power and can function perfectly in temperatures ranging from minus 20 degrees Celsius to 65 degrees.
The system works in tandem with five existing bass speakers and Range Rover’s Body and Soul Seats (BASS), which are multi-sensory and offer tactile stimulation to enhance the audio experience. Topping it off is the sensory floor, which further augments the overall experience.
On the inside, there’s a new two tone white and grey combination on advanced materials to create a leather-free atmosphere. A new elongated scatter cushion incorporates Kvadrat remix textile, a non-leather alternative, made from a durable wool and recycled polyester blend. The seats have an intricately laser-crafted mosaic and a new rattan palm veneer in a natural open-pore finish.
On the outside, the Range Rover SV Ultra introduces a new colour that the company is calling Titan Silver. The paint is created by using real fine aluminium flake and advanced pigments to create that lustrous metal-like surface. It’s almost mirror-esque. Rounding off the package is a set of 23-inch alloys with the Range Rover centre caps finishing the sentence.
