There are places in a city that are made to slow you down. The Imperial New Delhi is indisputably one of them. Set within this premium retreat are 44,000 square feet of wellness spaces. The hotel’s spa, salons, yoga sanctum, and pool create a world that feels far away from the pace of the capital. Here, checking in is more than just arrival; it's a moment to pause and breathe.

The Imperial Spa, recognised as India’s leading ultra-luxury wellness destination, recently received three major honours at the World Luxury Spa Awards 2025: Best Luxury Spa Retreat, Best Luxury Yoga Retreat, and Best Luxury Wellness Retreat in Asia. Yet its charm lies in the quiet confidence with which it operates. Nothing here feels forced. Everything is gentle, attentive, and quietly enriching.

The Imperial Spa

The spa sits amidst landscaped gardens, and entering it feels like stepping into another time. Upon entering, you witness designs that draw from Moroccan, Moghul, and Indian architecture. Tikri work glows on the walls. Arches open like an intricate maze. Natural light softens every corner. It is all crafted to make the mind settle, and the body loosen.

Each therapy room within the space has its own character, with elaborate motifs and a sense of quiet intimacy. The hamam-style hydrotherapy areas hold Turkish elements and pale, calming shades. The Moghul Suite, designed for couples, unfolds like a private sanctuary. Beyond that, it comes with a steam room, sauna, and jacuzzi that serve as an indulgent retreat for unhurried hours. The Kerala Suite here offers a more traditional approach, finished in neem wood with copper vessels and Shirodhara bowls. Here, treatments use herbs like moringa, Indian gooseberry, and country mallow to soothe skin and ease deeper tension. Plus, an Ayurvedic expert is also accessible for personalised guidance.

One of the most thoughtful touches at the spa is the ritual of choosing oils. Forest Essentials creates bespoke blends for the treatments using naturally grown ingredients. Each guest selects a base oil that suits their skin and pairs it with an essential oil that matches their mood.

The therapies themselves are crafted around individual needs. The Imperial Iconic Massage brings together hot candle wax, western techniques, and balancing strokes. Shirodhara begins with a long, slow massage before the warm, steady flow of oil is poured to quieten the mind. There is also the Imperial Spa Together ritual for couples who want to unwind side by side in the privacy of the Moghul Suite.

One of the latest additions is a 120-minute Sound Healing ritual. Inspired by Himalayan traditions, it uses hand-crafted singing bowls. These vibrations help balance energy, settle the breath, and create a sense of deep stillness. Furthermore, aromatherapy and herbal warmth enhance the experience, leaving the mind clearer and the body lighter.

Holistic wellness extends beyond the spa. The Imperial Yoga Sanctum, a custom-designed 900-square-foot studio, offers masterclasses grounded in Hatha Yoga. Within the setup sessions are tailored, seasonal, and deeply meditative. At the same time, for beauty and grooming, the Imperial Salons cater to both women and men. The ladies’ area features global haircare names like pH Italy and Moroccan Oil, along with Gemology and Orlane for facials. The men’s section has a sleek London-inspired look and uses Truefitt & Hill for its barbering services.

In the vicinity, the hotel’s pool, which is 25 metres long and breezy in its design, adds another layer to the day. Sunbathing here feels like a small holiday, especially with signature pool baskets and fresh snacks. Beyond this, the Technogym-equipped fitness centre is equally considered, using impact-driven machines and expert trainers to create a smooth, energising workout.

Everything at The Imperial is designed to allow one simple thing: uninterrupted peace. Whether it is a massage in a quiet room, a slow lap in the pool, a yoga session at dawn, or a haircut before an evening out, the experience is seamless, soft, and deeply personal.
