I arrive at The Roseate, New Delhi, familiar yet always breathtaking. Sunlight dots the giant stone steps and then the tranquil greens and serene water bodies line my path to Aheli Spa, tucked away in a quiet corner of the property. A calming scent greets me the moment I descend the steps towards the spa.

I am guided towards a naadi pariksha, an Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis. Dr Vaishnavi gently holds my wrist, asks me to close my eyes and take a deep breath. She repeats the process on my other wrist, then begins jotting notes on her letterhead.

She asks me a series of questions about my eating habits, daily routine, cravings, stressors, and examines my eyes. What follows is a detailed analysis of my body's internal imbalances, and a candid warning: without proper rest and detoxification, certain issues can give some trouble.

With that, she hands me a personalised plan with Ayurvedic medicines, a doable at-home detox schedule tailored for my hectic lifestyle, and a calming natural oil for my head to keep stress at bay. Then, I am introduced to the therapies Aheli offers. For me, she recommends Abhyanga, a traditional Ayurvedic oil massage that promises pain relief, nerve relaxation, and full-body rejuvenation.

As I settle in for the treatment, warm herbal oil is massaged rhythmically into my skin. The therapist explains how it works to balance the doshas, ease physical tension, and quiets the mind. The massage is followed by a gentle 15-minute steam. When I step out, my body feels lighter, my mind quieter, and my skin glowing. Back in the consultation room, we revisit my experience over a soothing cup of chamomile tea. Dr. Vaishnavi suggests a few more lifestyle tweaks that feel realistic, not overwhelming.

Later, a specially curated sattvik thali is served, plant-based food crafted to align with the detox process. The yellow dal with tempering, palak, kadhi, moong dal rotis, and a melt-in-the-mouth Banarasi peda strike the perfect balance of nourishment and indulgence.

By the end, I feel lighter, there is clarity in my head, and a sense of calm in my body. While the retreat spans five and seven days, it is flexible and customisable.

The five-day Ayurveda Stress Management Retreat focuses on de-stressing, improving the nervous system, promoting emotional healing and encouraging energy flow in the body. It includes daily Ayurvedic therapies such as Shirodhara and Abhyangam, sound healing, yoga, pranayama, and meditation. The retreat includes 700 minutes of therapy over five days. The seven-day Rejuvenation & Immunity Retreat is a deeper detoxification experience inspired by Panchakarma. It aims at boosting vitality, enhancing immunity, and nourishing the skin and digestive system. Treatments under the programme include Abhyangam, Pinda Sweda, Udwarthana, Hammam rituals, and Netra Tarpana, along with sound healing and personalised yoga sessions. The retreat includes 1,000 minutes of treatment time.
