Here's How Shangri-La Singapore Redefines Urban Resort Living in the Garden City
Set within 15 acres of tropical gardens, Shangri-La Singapore combines luxury with nature-inspired design, thoughtfully curated art, and immersive experiences for all ages.

Most city hotels promise tranquillity, but Shangri-La Singapore takes it a notch higher. Set within 15 acres of landscaped tropical gardens and just minutes from Orchard Road, this iconic hotel has spent over five decades (in fact, it is the first Shangri-La hotel in the world!) defining what Asian luxury hospitality truly feels like. And post the 2017 upgrade, art checks in, too.
Nature-Inspired Architecture
The Tower Wing’s interiors, refreshed in 2017 by Japanese designer Ryoichi Niwata of Bond Design Studio, draw inspiration from the elements of nature. Guests are welcomed into a lobby filled with natural light, where six towering ficus trees create an indoor canopy. A black stone infinity pool reflects a basalt rock feature wall layered with mosses and ferns—the largest indoor natural feature of its kind in Southeast Asia. Rattan, wood, and parchment celebrate Southeast Asian craftsmanship. Within the wing, guests can choose from 503 guestrooms, each adorned with a unique painting above the bed.
What’s more—a sculptural installation of thousands of metallic leaves swirls across the ceiling, capturing the movement of wind, while playful metal sculptures of children appear to skip across the water.
Distinct Wings for Every Style
At Shangri-La Singapore, families, too, can truly make the most of their stay. On the dedicated family floor, themed suites offer immersive experiences inspired by castles, underwater reefs, forests, outer space, and safari adventures. Every family room is thoughtfully equipped with cots, strollers, bath toys, and other amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Young ones can explore buds by Shangri-La, a wonderland where toddlers can crawl, slide, and explore safely. Older kids can climb rope bridges, zoom down slides, and dive into imaginative Explorer Zones. Creative minds can paint in the Muddy Room, sing and dance in music studios, or even try a mini baking class. Outdoors, the water playground and pirate-ship splash zones invite everyone to cool off and have fun under the warm Singapore sun. Themed family suites make life easy for parents, with cots, strollers, bath toys, and a Family Concierge ready to help.
Valley Wing
For guests seeking absolute discretion, the Valley Wing offers privacy at its finest. With an arrival via a separate entrance, visitors get an exclusive access to private dining spaces along with personalised butler service. Each of 131 furnished guestrooms, including 26 suites, serve as the accommodation choice for heads of states, captains of industries, and luxury travellers. The private lounge, reserved for guests staying in this wing, adds to the exclusivity. When here, breakfast is served at the Summit Room, while afternoon tea and evening cocktails are available through the day at the Marble Bar.
The crowning glory of the Valley Wing, though, are the curated experiences. Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays are reserved for live music. On Wednesdays and Fridays, sommeliers take the stage with guided wine tasting sessions. Come Monday, and live carving stations find a spot. At the end of the week, mixologists from Origin Bar, one of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, showcase Asian-crafted spirits.
Garden Wing and Premier Stays
The Garden Wing, on the other hand, offers a tropical, relaxed stay, with balconies overlooking lush greenery and the swimming pool. Premier Balcony Suites include generous outdoor terraces with hot tubs and dining areas, ideal for private entertainment.
Experiences Abound
With 11 dining concepts, Shangri-La Singapore is a culinary playground. Shang Palace presents elevated Cantonese cuisine, The Line features an international buffet with 16 live kitchens, and Origin Grill showcases premium produce such as snow-aged Wagyu. Origin Bar crafts cocktails inspired by historic journeys, while The Lobby Lounge celebrates the city’s heritage through dishes like chicken rice and laksa. Guests can also enjoy Waterfall Ristorante Italiano, Shangri-La Singapore’s Italian concept, known for its seasonal menu and elegant setting.
Indian guests visiting are in for a treat, too, as the hotel has a dedicated spread featuring Indian flavours during breakfast. The restaurants also serve vegetarian and vegan options for guests with special dietary needs.
At Chi, The Spa, wellness offerings are a plenty. Beyond availing holistic Asian treatments, rejuvenate in the free-form pool which is surrounded by koi ponds and verdant gardens. Or visit the health club featuring a gym with green views, steam rooms, relaxation lounges, and two tennis courts. The hotel also offers two pillar-less ballrooms and 19 event spaces for international dialogues, gala dinners, and weddings executed flawlessly. Plus, these event spaces are great to host Indian weddings, too!
Put simply, Shangri-La Singapore offers experiences for every type of guest, from families and wellness seekers to those craving ultimate privacy and luxury.
