High in Japan’s northernmost island, where winter arrives with heavy snowfall, and summers bloom quietly across landscapes, Aman Niseko is preparing to open its doors in 2030. Set on the pristine slopes of Mount Moiwa, this will be Aman’s fourth property in Japan and its most secluded yet.

Hokkaido has long been celebrated as Japan’s untamed wilderness. It is known as much for its flower-filled summers as for its world-class ski terrain. At Aman Niseko, that untouched natural beauty becomes the backdrop to an experience defined by a deep connection to the place. As the only development on the mountain, the resort sits within a protected nature reserve, offering uninterrupted views across Niseko’s famed slopes and forests.

With just 30 guest suites and 31 branded Residences, the scale is intentionally intimate. The resort invites guests to slow down and settle into the rhythm of the mountains.

Inside Aman Niseko

Designed by the late Kerry Hill, the architecture is contemporary, shaped to complement its surroundings. Subtle references to the design traditions of Hokkaido’s indigenous Ainu people are woven into the structure, reflecting Aman’s long-standing respect for cultural context. Clean lines, natural materials, and a muted palette allow the landscape to take centre stage.

Seasonal living is central to the Aman Niseko experience. Winter brings direct access to skiing and snowboarding on Niseko’s celebrated powder-filled slopes. When the snow melts, the mountains open to hiking, mountain biking, and river rafting, transforming the resort into a year-round retreat for outdoor exploration.

Hot spring bathing is at the heart of the property. The spa has both indoor and outdoor onsens. Every Residence has its own private onsen too.

The resort’s main pavilion functions as a calm social hub. In here, guests will find a gracious living room, two restaurants, a private dining room, a bar, a whisky and cigar lounge, a library, a boutique, and a gallery. Ski lockers, a ski retail area, and dedicated ski facilities reflect the resort’s seamless integration with mountain life. The 30 guest suites are housed in a separate pavilion, each offering uninterrupted mountain views and a sense of retreat from the world beyond.

Dining at Aman Niseko follows the same philosophy of considered simplicity. Menus will highlight local flavours and seasonal ingredients, creating meals that feel rooted in place. From relaxed, comforting dishes after a day on the slopes to refined dining experiences paired with panoramic views, each meal is designed to echo the landscape outside.

For those seeking a deeper immersion, Aman Residences offer a private interpretation of the Aman lifestyle. The free-standing, two-storey homes are designed with a calming linear aesthetic and customised to individual preferences. One to three bedrooms, expansive entertaining areas, terraces, dedicated ski rooms, and loft-like mezzanine levels ensure that each residence feels both personal and quietly luxurious.

At its core, Aman Niseko is about space - physical, emotional, and sensory.
