Jacob & Co.’s Opera Vantara Green Camo Pays Tribute to Anant Ambani’s Vantara
A one-of-a-kind timepiece that brings narrative, craftsmanship and conservation to the dial.
Jan 22, 2026
On January 21, luxury watchmaker Jacob & Co. unveiled another horological masterpiece — ‘Opera Vantara Green Camo'. The maison is no stranger to theatrical watchmaking, but Opera Vantara takes a more literal approach towards storytelling.
Created as a tribute to Anant Ambani’s Vantara, a wildlife rescue and conservation initiative based in Gujarat, India, the timepiece employs figurative detail and high-jewellery techniques to convey its theme directly on the dial.
Inside the Dial of the Opera Vantara
At the centre sits a hand-painted miniature of Anant Ambani, also positioned as the focal point of the composition. The miniature is placed on either side by a lion and a Bengal tiger, two species closely associated with India’s wildlife.
The Composition of the Opera Vantara
Framing the dial, the Opera Vantara showcases an intricate camouflage pattern built from 397 gemstones, including demantoid garnets, tasvorites, green sapphires, and white diamonds, reaching a combined weight of 21.98 carats.
Priced at USD 1.5 million (approximately ₹13.7 crore), Opera Vantara sits at the intersection of haute horology and fine jewellery. Beyond its mechanical and gemological bravura, the piece mirrors the scale and intent of Vantara itself—conceived as a long-term, purpose-built institution rather than a symbolic gesture. It also forms part of a quieter lineage of commissions, offering a look into other watches that have been personalised by the maison for the Ambani family.
Jacob & Co Epic X “Ram Janmabhoomi” Thematic Variant Worn by Anant Ambani
The Jacob & Co Epic X worn by Anant Ambani features engraved cultural and spiritual motifs linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi and Ram Mandir theme, indicating a level of personalisation beyond a standard Epic X reference. This variant incorporates detailed engravings on the case and, potentially, the dial, drawing on architectural and symbolic elements of particular significance in the Indian context. The result is a watch that clearly departs from regular production models and reflects a bespoke or special order execution aligned with the wearer’s personal and cultural affiliations.
Jacob & Co Astronomia “Fleurs de Jardin” Customised Version Worn by Nita Ambani
The Jacob & Co Astronomia “Fleurs de Jardin” worn by Nita Ambani is an elaborate interpretation of the Astronomia collection, distinguished by bespoke gemstone selection and artistic execution. The Astronomia platform is defined by its triple-axis tourbillon and rotating display, which functions as a kinetic stage for decorative elements. In this execution, a floral composition of pink sapphires and other coloured gemstones creates a garden-inspired aesthetic, complementing the complex flying tourbillon movement that characterises the series and reinforcing the watch’s high jewellery, personalised nature.
Rendered through rare materials and exacting craft, the watch also reflects Jacob & Co.’s fluency in translating personal patronage into singular objects, while continuing a relationship with the Ambani family that has, over time, resulted in some of the maison’s most visible and highly personalised creations.
