Mercedes-AMG GT 63 Debuts in India with Full Power
Robb Report India was among the first in the market to spend some alone time with the latest drop by Mercedes-AMG, priced at INR 3 crore.

Coming in straight from the AMG hub in Affalterbach, Germany, to India, the suave GT 63 4MATIC+ by Mercedes-AMG is this season’s hottest auto drop. The under-the-hood specs are not for the faint-hearted, as the car boasts a whopping 585 horsepower (hp) and 800 Newton-metres (nm) of torque. While we can only dream of taking it to its promised top speed of 315 km/h on India’s city streets, we content ourselves with everything else that it offers. The car is powered by a hand-built 4.0 litre V8 Biturbo engine, adding an extra nod to luxury.
First Look: Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+
Exteriors
The exteriors are the winner! Its muscular stance and fierce silhouette instantly makes heads turn, especially with the active rear-wing spoiler that completes the look. The coupe-style silhouette, with its beautiful, elongated bonnet, is an added visual cue.
The signature Panamericana grille at the front with subtle AMG branding (we love the brake callipers) is a signature. The underbody features certain AMG Aerodynamic elements that help add downforce at high speeds.
Interiors
Is it just as luxe on the inside? The interiors are ensconced in leather sports car seats, with matte metallic trims on the headrest and subtle AMG badging dotting the cabin. Familiar elements like the aviation-turbine style AC vents and the tried and tested Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) interface, are also there.
There’s an 11.6-inch central touchscreen, placed in a vertical orientation, which is complemented by a 12.3-inch driver display. Drivers who are already familiar with the Mercedes user interface will find a highly customised version here, which is designed to accompany the AMG drive experience, right down to the smallest indicators. Mercedes uses Burmester for its immersive cabin audio experiences, and this one, given the cabin’s compact proportions, truly is ‘surround sound’.
Tech geeks can note AMG’s Active Ride Control suspension along with rear-axle steering—and, if you find the place and need to do so, you can activate the Race drive programme on the AMG Dynamic Plus package.
RR Verdict
At a price tag of INR 3 crore, the Mercedes-AMG G 63 is definitely on our radar for this season’s hottest new wheels. And if this wasn’t enough, there’s a Pro version of the same car, at a higher price point, with 612 hp and 850 nm of power and torque. Time to look for the nearest race track, maybe?
