When Automobili Lamborghini drops a car, India stops on its tracks to take notice, even though we’re half way across the globe. And when it is the most powerful V12 in history, we can’t help but say bellissima!

The Italian luxe carmaker keeps the ‘object of desire’ quotient high with its latest release: the Lamborghini Fenomeno. This limited edition of 29 cars joins a rank of the brand’s global exclusive pieces like the Countach, Veneno, and Centernario.

With an enviable provenance in the Lamborghini Centro Stile at the brand’s design department in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the Fenomeno features a highly-stylised silhouette that includes custom-built aerodynamic elements that complement its stellar performance. The most powerful V12 engine made by the brand, paired with three electric motors, pumps out a record power of 823 horsepower (hp), going all the way up to 1,065 hp with the motors. Impressive specifications for what the manufacturer calls 'the fastest Lamborghini ever,' with the claim of a 2.4 second sprint from 0-100kmph, and the 200kmph sprint achieved in an impressive 6.7 seconds, attaining a maximum speed of 350kmph.

On the outside, Lamborghini retains its design DNA while adding novelties like its long-tail proportions, clean surfaces, pure lines, and the unmistakable centre line silhouette. A mention of the car’s aerodynamics is warranted—air curtains at the front to reduce drag, a concave roof, a new designed door which directs air towards the side intakes, and a moveable rear wing for stability at high speeds. A treat for the eyes!

While we wax eloquent on the exteriors, aerodynamics, and performance of this car, the Fenomeno’s design concept translates to the cabin, where the manufacturer wants you to ‘feel like a pilot’. Inside the cabin, most hard keys have been transposed onto one of the three digital screens, which pack in all the infotainment, comfort settings, drive modes, and technical information to enhance the driving experience. Italian handcrafted finishes characterise the space, accented with dark and metallic tones for a sporty Mediterranean feel. To keep weight to a minimum, carbon fibre dominates the cabin, featuring on the sport pad, door panels, and sport seats. Fun fact: 3D printing was used to create the air vents integrated into the carbon fibre instrument cluster.

The Fenomeno is equipped with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox positioned behind its V12 engine, optimised for sporty, high-speed driving, while the eighth gear promises a superior cruising experience. Bridgestone has developed custom Potenza tyres exclusively for the Fenomeno.

And finally, our favourite part: if owning a limited edition isn’t exclusive enough, Lamborghini’s Ad Personam bespoke programme lets you choose from over 400 exterior and interior colours, along with your preferred upholstery and materials. A visit to the Ad Personam ateliers in Sant’Agata could well be on the cards. Pure Italian opulence.
