The F1 Canadian GP has been as dramatic as it possibly could have been with a surprise ending to boot. The end result? Kimi Antonelli won and extended his championship lead over the hapless George Russell. While Mercedes would have been happy to see Kimi win, the fact that it was pure heartbreak for George would have hurt - he retired after a power unit failure on lap 30. Every point lost will be a gain for the opposition teams and that could destroy Mercedes' chances of winning the constructors' title. However, it was quite a cruise for the Mercedes boys in the beginning as the Mercedes cars stayed at the top after the start - Russell was on pole. And they did not just follow each other. They tussled constantly for the lead and all but collided on a number of occasions, just like it happened during the Sprint. In fact, Kimi actually locked up during one such fiery exchange, but missed hitting his teammate's car. On lap 18 it was a lock-up by Russell that almost let Antonelli overtake. The Italian remained half a second behind, however, meaning that the fight was likely not over yet.

The P1 spot was exchanged a few times, before it was handed to Kimi on a platter. In fact, during one such pass, Kimi had to give the top position back to Russell as he had gone onto the grass to overtake. However, Antonelli did protest, asking, "Why mate, he pushed me off and I was already ahead?"

Both pulled off some stunning overtaking maneuvers before the clash came to an early end for George as he was forced to stop on the circuit itself. The furious Brit actually threw his gear out of his smoking car in anger.

In his post-race reaction, Kimi said, "It was a really fun battle to be fair with George." As things stand, Kimi's lead has extended to over 43 points.

With Russell out, and the safety car on the track, Kimi found Max Verstappen behind him, but by then, he had built up a massive lead, indicating there was no imminent threat from the Red Bull driver. In fact, when the chequered flag was waved for Kimi, he was over 10 seconds ahead. This is Kimi's fourth consecutive win, indicating how much he has been dominating the rest of the field even though he is a teenager.

The second spot however, was not taken by Verstappen as his bitter old rival, Lewis Hamilton in his resurgent Ferrari, grabbed that position. Hamilton managed to get ahead during the end of the race as Verstappen's car slowed. Hamilton managed to pass Verstappen on lap 62/68. He did it the more difficult way by going around on the outside of his rival's car. However, Max stayed on his tail, constantly harrying Hamilton, but was not able to pass. The second spot was a surprise for Ferrari as Lewis had been constantly complaining about lack of power in his car. Max did get the third spot and put himself on the podium.

It got even better for Ferrari as Charles LeClerc came in fourth. Isack Hadjar, in the other Red Bull, sailed to 5th. Clearly, Red Bull and Ferrari have managed to sort their cars out and that has left the McLarens out in the cold. In fact, Oscar Piastri came in at 11th spot as the team's tyre decisions weighed on the car. He was also slapped with a penalty after crashing into Williams' Alex Albon causing him to be eliminated. Lando Norris's tyre troubles were not the least of it. His car stopped due to gearbox issues.
