This story spotlights five newly launched luxury sunglasses that blend cutting-edge design with meticulous craftsmanship. From the Balthazar Vanta’s 300-step Japanese production to Cartier’s kinetic Clash hinges and Loewe’s wraparound Speed Shield, it explores how top maisons are elevating eyewear into collectible fashion statements amid rising demand and soaring summer temperatures worldwide.

Summer is here. And if there’s one accessory that the luxury market is spending more seriously than ever, it is eyewear. Currently, with the global eyewear market valued at over USD 2 billion (approximately Rs 190 crore) by 2030, the optical world is driven largely by buyers who invest in sunglasses (quite literally). With the temperatures hitting an all time high, here’s a look at five luxury sunglasses that are not just perfect for the heat, but will also make you stand out in the crowd.

Balthazar Vanta by Jacques Marie Mage x Haider Ackermann

The Balthazar Vanta is a product of one of the most significant eyewear collaborations of the year.

Launched in May, the Balthazar Vanta is a product of one of the most significant eyewear collaborations of the year. Haider Ackermann, who is currently the creative director of Tom Ford, designed three sunglass models with Los-Angeles-based artisanal eyewear house Jacques Marie Mage.

The Balthazar Vanta features a round silhouette built from a 12mm plant-based acetate frame front with slender temples handcrafted from 100 per cent beta titanium, polished black with hairline-engraved details, arrowhead monoblock hinges, and inner-temple hallmarks carrying Ackermann's signature foil-stamped in silver. Lenses are Armorlite 0-base ultra black mirrors with backside anti-reflective treatment. A leather-wrapped edition wraps both the acetate front and titanium temples entirely in black leather.

Each pair of the Balthazar Vanta is handcrafted in Japan through a 300-step process involving close to 100 craftspeople. The collector's packaging includes a black leather python-embossed box, a handcrafted Italian leather eyewear case, a commemorative silk scarf, and a letterpress-printed authenticity card.

The Cartier Spring/Summer 2026 eyewear collection comes with a functional update to the Clash de Cartier sunglasses line. While the maison’s signature Picot studs and clous carrés historically served as static decorative motifs borrowed from its jewellery line, the latest collection engineers these studs to function as mobile, kinetic hinges. The frames are in smooth golden-finish metal, rimless, in a cat-eye shape, with grey lenses carrying a pink mirror effect. Dimensions are 60mm lenses, 16mm bridge, and 140mm temples. Nine models exist across the collection in cat-eye, rectangular, oval, butterfly, and square shapes. Every piece ships with complimentary delivery and returns from Cartier's official channel.
