When you walk into a space and are drawn to the lighting, chances are Prateek Jain and Gautam Seth have probably had something to do with it. The designers and founders of Klove Studio create lights that fuse drama with craftsmanship. Their journey began in 2005. Today, 21 years later, they can count participating in several international exhibitions and trade fairs among their many milestones. “From representing India at the Dubai Expo to our more recent engagement with the Saudi government, where we were commissioned to mentor students and architects, these opportunities have been incredibly meaningful,” says Seth, adding, “What makes these moments especially rewarding is the recognition that countries are increasingly looking to India for design leadership, education, and creative expertise. Being able to contribute to that global conversation and represent Indian design on an international stage has been both an honour and a source of immense pride.”
Creators, as well as connoisseurs of luxury, Jain and Seth believe that luxury has always been experiential. “Whether in fashion, the feel of certain fabrics, or in the lights we make—or simply how one feels when one enters a room illuminated by that lighting luxury is visual and sensorial. Unless one’s senses accept it as luxury, it will never truly be luxury,” opines Jain. When it comes to the ‘Made in India’ narrative, they both feel that it should become even stronger. “It’s a beautiful expression because creating encompasses everything from visualisation and ideation to execution,” says Jain. Reflecting on Robb Report India’s first anniversary, Seth says that if he wants an insight into the world of luxury, he picks up a copy of the magazine. They both love that the publication is spreading its wings and exploring various disciplines and genres. He says, “It feels experimental in a way that no one else has really done before at this level. I think that’s beautiful.”
