Porsche has launched the all-electric Cayenne in India, and it arrived in Mumbai yesterday, September 30, 2026. The Porsche Cayenne Electric starts at Rs 1.77 crore (ex-showroom), while the Cayenne Turbo Electric costs Rs 2.28 crore. Both of these cars use a 113 kWh battery and an 800V architecture. Both versions use a 113 kWh battery and an 800V electrical architecture, with up to 400 kW DC charging and a claimed 10 to 80 per cent charging time of less than 16 minutes under suitable conditions.
Porsche, the German automotive company, is known for turning performance into everyday luxury. The Cayenne has been its popular family SUV for over two decades. Now, for the first time, it runs fully on electricity, but it is not simply an existing Cayenne with its petrol engine removed. Porsche has developed a dedicated electric powertrain and a new 800V electrical system for the SUV. Both launch variants use electric motors on the front and rear axles, giving them all-wheel drive.
However, the brand is not turning its back on petrol just yet. The electric Cayenne will share showroom space with the combustion-engine Cayenne, giving buyers a real choice. It also takes its place beside the Taycan and the Macan Electric, making it the third electric Porsche on Indian roads and the first one wearing the badge of the brand's most familiar SUV.
The battery warranty here is a big plus too. Every electric Porsche gets a worldwide warranty on the high-voltage battery for eight years or 160,000 km. The charging allows the car to go from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 16 minutes in ideal conditions. This version also offers adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management as standard.
The biggest difference, however, sits beneath the bonnet. Both variants have an electric motor on the front axle and another on the rear. This means power goes to all four wheels, so both cars are all-wheel drive. What separates them is how much power they make. The standard Cayenne Electric produces up to 442 PS (325 kW) when Launch Control is used. Launch Control is a special mode that gives the fastest possible start from a standstill. With it, the SUV reaches 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and its top speed is 230 km/h.
The Turbo is on a completely different level. It makes up to 1,156 PS (850 kW) and 1,500 Nm of torque, which is the pulling force that pushes you back in your seat. It reaches 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds and goes on to a top speed of 260 km/h. These are numbers one would expect from a supercar not an SUV. The standard model, however, wins on range. On the WLTP test cycle, a global standard for measuring electric range, it can run up to 642 km on a full charge, while the Turbo manages around 620 km. Real-world range will be lower, as it always is with electric cars. The Turbo also costs about Rs 50 lakh more. That extra money buys you much more power and a faster sprint.
Charging, on the other hand, is the same for both. The 800V system can take in DC fast charging of up to 390-400 kW. Porsche says the battery can go from 10 to 80 per cent in about 16 minutes, but only under ideal conditions.

Visually, Porsche has not shared detailed design notes for the Indian launch, but some hardware modifications stand out. Adaptive air suspension and rear-axle steering come as standard in the car. The air suspension adjusts the ride to the road and the rear steering makes this big SUV easier to turn in tight city spaces.
Inside, the cabin is built around screens. A curved 14.5-inch central touchscreen sits at the middle of the dashboard with an optional 14.9-inch display that lets the front passenger watch or control things. An augmented reality head-up display projects navigation and driving information on the windscreen, so the driver does not have to look down.
The Cayenne Electric keeps the Porsche promise of speed and luxury and adds quick charging and a long range. With sub-five-second acceleration even in the base model, it is clearly a performance-first EV. For buyers at this price, the question is simply whether they want the 4.8-second SUV or the 2.5-second one.
