Coconut whisky has never really been part of the conversation. That's exactly why it is closing one of the brand's most creative chapters. After six annual releases exploring everything from cacao and coffee to books, music and tea, The Macallan Harmony Collection is coming to an end with 2 limited-edition single malt whisky bottles: Inspired by Fresh Coconut and Inspired by Toasted Coconut. More than just new whisky bottles, they're the finale to a series that has spent six years blending whisky with art, design and sustainability.
Inspired by Fresh Coconut whisky (46.3% ABV) will be available through retailers, while Inspired by Toasted Coconut whisky (43.3% ABV) is exclusive to global travel retail. Each whisky is expected to be priced around $185 before local taxes.
The tropical whisky flavour isn't the result of flavouring. Instead, The Macallan whisky makers turned to a combination of American oak casks, including ex-bourbon barrels and sherry-seasoned American oak, to naturally coax coconut notes from the wood while preserving the distillery's unmistakable style. It's a clever reminder that a great whisky is often shaped by cask selection as much as the spirit itself.
Inspired by Fresh Coconut whisky offers notes of fresh coconut, citrus, vanilla and sweet oak, while Inspired by Toasted Coconut whisky leans towards creme caramel, toasted coconut, white chocolate, charred pineapple and a lingering oak finish.
The Harmony Collection has always been about more than what was inside the whisky bottle. This final edition reunites The Macallan with El Celler de Can Roca and pastry chef Jordi Roca, whose coconut-inspired desserts and cocktails extend the experience beyond that. Even the presentation continues the collection's sustainability ethos, with the gift box crafted using discarded coconut husk fibres.
Most limited whisky editions are remembered because they're difficult to find. The Harmony Collection whisky will be remembered because it dared to experiment. Ending the series with coconut feels fitting.
