American whiskey has no shortage of rare bottles, heritage distilleries and limited releases. But when it comes to sales, the picture is rather different. The biggest names are the ones found on shelves around the world, selling millions of cases every year. According to The Spirits Business' Brand Champions 2026 report, Jim Beam whiskey was the world's best-selling whiskey brand by volume in 2025, followed by Jack Daniel's. Evan Williams, Maker's Mark and Seagram's 7. The report records all sales in nine-litre cases.
For all the attention given to rare releases and highly aged bottles, the biggest American whiskey brands continue to win for a simple reason: people know them and keep coming back for just one more bottle. Check out the best-selling American whiskey brands in the world as per this 2026 report.
Jim Beam whiskey remained at the top of the Brand Champions 2026 world whiskey ranking, selling 16.7 million nine-litre cases in 2025. The Kentucky bourbon, owned by Suntory Global Spirits, has built its reputation on being familiar, widely available, and relatively easy on the wallet. Bottled at 40% ABV, a 750ml bottle typically retails for around $18. Its scale is remarkable, although sales slipped 4.6% from the previous year.
Jack Daniel's whiskey followed with 13.4 million nine-litre cases. The Tennessee whiskey remains one of the most recognisable American whiskey brands, produced in Lynchburg using the Lincoln County Process. Old No. 7 is bottled at 40% ABV and costs $25 for 750ml.
There is a sizeable gap between the top two and the rest. Evan Williams whiskey recorded 2.9 million nine-litre cases in 2025, placing it seventh in the overall World Whisky Brand Champions ranking and third among the American brands featured here. The Heaven Hill bourbon is bottled at 43% ABV and costs around $16 for 750ml. Its sales declined 3.9% during the year vis a vis the previous year.
The red wax seal makes Maker's Mark one of the easiest bourbon bottles to recognise. The Suntory-owned brand sold 2.7 million nine-litre cases in 2025. At 45% ABV, it is the highest-proof whiskey among these five, while a 750ml retails for $30.
Seagram's 7 whiskey is at the 5th spot on the list with 2 million nine-litre cases in 2025. Unlike the other names here, it is an American blended whiskey rather than a bourbon, and its sales remained unchanged from 2024. At 40% ABV, a 750ml bottle costs $17, keeping it firmly in the everyday-drinking category.
The numbers tell a fairly straightforward story. Jim Beam whiskey and Jack Daniel's whiskey are in a different league, while Evan Williams, Maker's Mark and Seagram's 7 hold their own further down the table.
